SmartThings is a home automation company that aims at making it dead easy to turn your home into a connected smarthome. Not only will SmartThings help you control aspects of your home remotely, but it also learns from your patterns and habits and adjusts your home automatically so you don’t even have to lift a finger. How convenient is that?

Today, SmartThings announced that along with the iOS and Android versions of its official apps, a Windows Phone version has been published on the Windows Phone Store as a free download. The app works in collaboration with the SmartThings Hub, priced at $99, or a Starter Kit that includes the Hub along with a range of other hardware like lighting controllers, motion detectors, moisture sensors and more to ensure the control and safety of your home. All you have to do is plug in the Hub then pair as many smart sensors as your home requires and that’s it.

As for the Windows Phone app itself, it allows you to receive notifications when people, pets, and cars arrive and leave, intruders too. It also lets you know when doors, drawers, or other secure enclosures are opened, closed or moved. You have full control over your lights as to when they are on, off, or set the specific times to turn on or off, you can also control their brightness levels. Home cooling/warming can also be controlled so you don’t have to worry whether you left the AC or radiator on to eat your electricity bill. Speaking of electricity, you’ll be able to carefully monitor your homes energy consumption.

Additionally, the app is location aware so you can set it to perform certain functions depending on where you are, or you can set it to turn on the TV real loud when a thief sets off the motion detector. That should send them running.
