Titanfall 2 in development and will not be a Microsoft exclusive

Titanfall is a popular first-person shooter game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts in 2014. The game was made available on Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, leaving the Sony PS4 and Nintendo Wii sitting on the sidelines. Now, Respawn Entertainment has revealed that they are working on a sequel to Titanfall and it will no longer be an exclusive to Microsoft (confirming a rumor we heard back in February).

“I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don’t know anything about it, or… yeah. So we’re working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we’re working on that. That’s the main focus but we’re starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It’ll be multi-platform,” Respawn founder and CEO Vince Zampella told IGN.

No further details on the next Titanfall game were revealed by Zampella but he did mention that Respawn was planning to “do something different” when it comes to charging gamers for downloadable maps. Just yesterday, three map packs were released as part of Titanfall’s $24.99 season pass, in celebration of the title’s one year anniversary.

Titanfall 2 has yet to receive an official title and a release date has yet to be unveiled. How do you feel about Titanfall 2 becoming multi-platform and not just exclusive to Microsoft?
