Microsoft has released two new Windows 11 Beta channel builds. One of these iterations, Build 22631.2338, typically known for bringing in fresh features, has, in fact,  pulled the plug on a significant one – Teams Chat is now officially labeled Microsoft Teams – Free.

Microsoft Teams – Free will now appear as a default icon pinned to the taskbar, operating much like any other app. It can be unpinned at user discretion, akin to other taskbar apps, the tech giant announced in a blog post.

Beginning to roll out with this build, Chat is now Microsoft Teams – Free. Microsoft Teams – Free is pinned by default to the taskbar and can be unpinned like other apps on the taskbar.

Updates on Windows 11 Builds

The Windows 11 Build 22631.2338 promises several new developments. It holds the most buzz due to the virtual exit of Teams. Instead of Teams integration within the system, Microsoft now presents a free version of Teams.

Named “Microsoft Teams – Free”, the app offers features identical to Teams’ consumer and personal versions in previous Windows, including the ability to pin and unpin it from the taskbar. Bug fixes and an overall system enhancement accompanied the rollout.

The second build, Windows 11 Beta Channel 22621.2338, is primarily focusing on bug fixes. We’ve provided an in-depth explanation of both builds in a separate post. Please refer to it for further insights.
