T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 521 gets a taste of Lumia Black update

Nokia Lumia 521

The majority of Lumia devices in the US have got a taste of the latest Nokia Lumia Black update, but if you’re still rocking a T-Mobile Lumia 521, there’s a piece of good news for you. The carrier has started the Lumia Black update roll out process for its variant, which should reach all devices in the coming days. Surprisingly, it’s still listed as coming soon on Nokia’s support website, but T-Mobile clearly mentioned on their support page that the process has started.

The latest update bumps the software version to 3056.0000.1404.0034. The T-Mobie support page doesn’t list all the new features introduced in the update, except the screen orientation lock and the App Switcher, but keep in mind that it brings all the Nokia-specific features to the handset. Some of those included are the Driving mode, custom ringtones, glance screen, several Nokia-specific apps like Beamer, Storyteller, etc. and a bunch more improvements.

The update should arrive on your Lumia 521 any time now, but if you’re impatient, you can manually head over to Settings > Phone Update > Check for updates to see if the software is available for your handset. Do make sure you have over 50 percent charge and preferably a WiFi connection nearby as the update is sized at 321MB — you don’t want to choke out your data limit.

If you’re one of those lucky users who received the update, kindly share with us using the comments below.
