Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book get new firmware updates, improves camera stability

Microsoft has quietly released new firmware and driver updates for its Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book (via Windows Central). According to Microsoft’s Surface Update History page, the updates have been released yesterday, October 11 and they should bring improvements to camera stability. On the Surface Pro 4, a firmware update should also improve device reliability. You can read the full release notes below:

Surface Pro 4

  • Surface Embedded Controller Firmware – Firmware: 103.1791.258.0 improves device reliability.
  • Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500 – Sound, video and GC: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Microsoft Camera Front – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Microsoft Camera IR Front – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Intel(R) Control Logic – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Intel(R) CSI2 Host Controller – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Intel(R) Imaging Signal Processor 2500 – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Microsoft Camera Rear – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Surface Camera Windows Hello – System device: 1.0.85.1 improves camera stability.
  • Surface Integration – System device: 1.0.170.0 improves device reliability.

Surface Book

  • Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500 – Sound, video and GC: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Microsoft Camera Front – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Microsoft Camera IR Front – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Intel(R) Control Logic – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Intel(R) CSI2 Host Controller – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.
  • Intel(R) Imaging Signal Processor 2500 – System device: 30.15063.10999.4731 improves camera stability.

  • Surface Camera Windows Hello – System device: 1.0.85.1 improves camera stability.

The Surface Pro 4 received its last firmware update last month, which improved support for the latest Surface Pro Type Covers. As for the Surface Book, its most recent firmware and drivers were released in April, following the rollout of the Windows 10 Creators Update. You can download these latest updates by checking Windows Update, let us know in the comments if you notice any improvements after proceeding.
