Update: Microsoft has issued a statement to us. Apparently the support page had a typo and has since been corrected. “An earlier version of the KB article included a typo. The KB is in reference to generic H.264 video updates for the Windows ecosystem, as evidenced by the ‘applies to’ section on the page. To avoid any confusion, we’ve updated the KB article to correct the typo and better convey the information as intended,” a Microsoft spokesperson told WinBeta. You can read the original story below.
Microsoft has scheduled an event next week in New York City, where the Redmond-based company is expected to take the wraps off the long rumored Surface Mini tablet. Previous rumors have hinted that its not just the Surface Mini which will take the center stage, Microsoft is prepping up another Intel-based Surface which may see the light of the day at the press event.
Microsoft may have accidentally mentioned the upcoming Intel-based Surface tablet on their Support site. The company published a support article yesterday related to Windows 8.1, and mentions, “An update is available that adds support to the Surface Pro 3 camera.” Last week, we came across a report from CNET, suggesting that Microsoft is working on a new Surface tablet which will come with power-optimized Haswell chip for improved performance.
The support guys may have made a typo, but we can’t just skip the possibility seeing as how they have been several reports from authentic publications about the existence of the Intel-based tablet. Well, let’s just wait for the Microsoft event next week, and see what the company has planned for its fans. We’re pretty excited and we will make sure you get all the information from the Surface event.
