Surface Duo 2 has just received July’s firmware updates bumping it up to the latest version of the Android OS on the device to 2022.517.98.  This particular update features improved night mode photography accompanied with the usual security fixes.

According to Microsoft’s changelog, here are some of the changes and improvements that you should expect with this update:

  • Addresses scenarios outlined in the Android Security Bulletin—July 2022.
  • Improves device stability.
  • Improves system performance.
  • Improves camera experience with enhancements to face detection technology and night mode photography.
  • Improves ink responsiveness in Office Apps (OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) when writing with a Surface Pen.

Remember, back in May, the in-app camera experience in dual-screen modes for applications with dynamic orientation requirements was enhanced in the original Surface Duo. This update should show up for you automatically under Settings > System > System Update and Check for update. Download the update now to shield your device from any security threats.
