As of today, Oculus Rift owners are able to dive into playing Xbox One in a 3D virtual space. Gamers can play all of the latest Xbox One titles and even Xbox OneBackward Compatible games in their own 3D environment streamed seamlessly from their console with the Xbox One Streaming to Oculus Rift application.
Within the app, the user can alter and customize their virtual space in some simple ways. Such as changing between three different environments that center on a massive screen that can be set as curved, straight, and brought nearer or further away from the user’s view.
The Xbox One Streaming to Oculus Rift app is free and can be accessed through the Oculus Store. Setup is easy since it works through your Windows 10 PC. The app detects Xbox One consoles across your network, so using an ethernet for both the PC and console would render the best results.
For the best performance, users are recommended to have an Intel i5-4590 or higher processor, NVIDIA GTX 970/AMD R9 290 or higher GPU, and at least 8 GB of RAM.
While getting immersed into the 3D environment is nice, this app could pave the way to using the Oculus Rift for future virtual reality games on the Xbox One. If you’re a Rift and Xbox One owner, be sure to let us know your experiences in the comments below.
