Steam is rolling out a free trial feature starting with Dead Space Remake

The Steam PC gaming platform has added a new free game trial feature for select games. While these new trials have arrived with very little hubbub, it will no doubt be a welcome addition once word spreads to users of the platform. Previously, the only “trials” on offer were via taking advantage of Steam’s 2-hour refund window. Now users will be able to try out certain games with these more straightforward 90-minute trials.

The first of these trials is for the Dead Space remake, which was released earlier this year. This 90-minute trial can be accessed through the game’s Steam page. The game is currently on sale at a 20% discount until May 29, and it seems that will be the window of availability for the trial.

So far no further trials have been announced at this point although presumably more will follow. So this could very well be merely an experimental feature that may or may not become integrated into the platform in the future. Much like the Xbox Free Play Days perk of Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Steam also features a Steam Free Weekend program in which users are given free access to games over a short period.
