The long-awaited Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi will finally come to the Fortnite video game on Xbox consoles, Windows, and other platforms tomorrow on Thursday May 26th.
Obi-Wan’s arrival was hinted at way back at the beginning of the month during Fortnite’s May The 4th (Star Wars Day) celebrations but it looks as if Disney wanted to wait to tie the character’s appearance into the debut of the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series on Disney Plus this Friday. Few can blame them really.
The Obi-Wan outfit/skin will be available as an individual purchase (along with a free back bling) and as part of a bundle which also includes a loading screen (see top image,) a glider based on the Jedi fighter from Revenge of the Sith, pickaxe, and an emote that features a hologram message of Obi-Wan saying “May the Force be with you.”
All of the bundle’s items, with the exception of the loading screen, will also be available separately. Frustratingly, Obi-Wan’s pickaxe is a basic knife instead of a lightsaber which will likely be a massive disappointment for all Fortnite players who were hoping that the Jedi weapon would finally be added to the game as a pickaxe instead of a weapon limited to rare appearances in events.
Fortnite’s current season, Chapter 3 Season 2, is currently set to end next week on June 4th with a major in-game event expected to bring the current storyline with the Seven Versus IO war to a close and propel the narrative forward due to the reappearance of The Paradigm. Specifics on the event are unknown though the massive weapon being built by the IO in the middle of the island and the repairing of the giant robot by the Paradigm in space suggests that there’s going to be some pretty big action taking place.
