In the first Virus Bulletin Industry Test of 2011 SpamTitan has outperformed industry giants like McAfee, Sophos, WebRoot and Symantec once again showing that it is the leader in email security with close to the highest overall final score of all solutions tested with a 99.97% spam catch rate and no false positives.

Boston, MA and Galway, Ireland – January 11th 2011 – SpamTitan Technologies, the makers of powerful yet easy-to-manage spam and web filtering software, today announced that it has performed exceptionally well in the most recent Virus Bulletin test outperforming almost all competitors including industry giants like McAfee, Sophos, WebRoot and Symantec. The Virus Bulletin is an independent global publication specific to the field of viruses and related malware. Not only did SpamTitan have the second highest spam catch rate, it combined this with a 0% false positive rate, it can’t get much better than that. With a 0% false positive rate companies can rest assured that the damaging effect of having a bona fide email incorrectly identified as spam will not occur with SpamTitan. As a result of this performance SpamTitan earns the much coveted Virus Bulletin award and again receives strong independent endorsement for its highly effective and easy to use spam filtering solution.

Martijn Grooten, author of the Virus Bulletin Anti-spam comparative review stated that ‘SpamTitan not only equalled the stunning spam catch rate it displayed in the previous test, but the virtual appliance also correctly identified all legitimate emails. With close to the highest final score, SpamTitan is among the winners of this test.’

This is SpamTitans eight time to enter the Virus Bulletin test which this time compared 18 other competing products. This latest Virus Bulletin test highlighted the move towards spear phishing, a sophisticated form of phishing where victims are individually targeted as a growing threat. SpamTitan offers protection to safeguard customers from these phishing attacks using a multi-layered approach which allows SpamTitan to deliver better and more generic detection of phishing emails.

“This 8th consecutive Virus Bulletin test validates the market-leading effectiveness of the SpamTitan spam filtering solution, simply put we catch more spam than anyone else,” said Ronan Kavanagh CEO. “When our customers choose SpamTitan they do not have to choose between catching a large volume of spam or having a low volume of false positives, with SpamTitan they get both. We are seeing a growing number of new customers moving from other solutions, the clear message we are hearing is that once customers deploy SpamTitan they are see an immediate and dramatic reduction in the level of spam. These independent test results prove that our hard work is paying off and our customers are reaping the rewards in terms of having the very best protection from spam and viruses at an extremely competitive price.
