Rumor: iPad 3 to get 2GHz dual-core Samsung CPU?

Looks like we might see a 2GHz dual-core processor inside the brand new iPad 3. Samsung is rumored to be developing a fast 2Ghz dual-core processor for mobile devices, which could be used in Apple’s as-yet-unannounced iPad 3.

As Daum reports, sources close to Samsung are saying that a 2GHz dual-core processor is in the works. “We are planning to release a 2Ghz dual-core CPU-equipped smartphone by next year. This product will have the data processing capacities of a regular PC.”

Now, as we all know, the current iPad 2 operated on a 1GHz dual-core processor. A 2Ghz dual-core processor would significantly boost the performance of the tablet. That twice the current speed. I’m sure we will all welcome the improved speed and performance. This will obviously allow for better games and applications to be developed to utilize the power.

Again, treat this as a rumor until hard facts are shown. Reports are suggesting that the iPad will be released sometime in 2012.

On the iPhone front, Apple might be beginning production of the iPhone 5 this September for an October release while the iPhone 6 might make its debut early 2012.
