Remember the Lumia Moments app? This app allows you to use the best frame in a video to find pictures and save them as “Living Images” and bring them to life in the camera roll. It appears Microsoft has quietly rebranded the Lumia Moments app to Photo Add-ins.
This change was first spotted by OneTechStop, and the app is available right now in the Windows Store. Interestingly enough, this app now appears to be a “plug-in” for the Photos app. You can grab the app from the download link below. Here’s what the app description states:
“Add great new effects and features to the Microsoft Photos app with this handy plug-in. With Microsoft Photos plug-in, you can save the perfect photo from your videos, add a strobe effect to your photos to show action or add blur to emphasise motion. This plug-in is fully supported on Lumia 830, Lumia 930, Lumia Icon and Lumia 1520.”
Just recently, we learned that Microsoft was retiring several Lumia apps, including Storyteller, Beamer, Photobeamer, and Refocus. It looks like these apps may have some hope after all if Microsoft decided to rebrand them and offer them as plug-ins to the Photos app.
