Microsoft is about to add a new Files Restore capability to OneDrive, a handy option in case you accidentally lost important data on your PC. Stephen L Rose from the OneDrive team teased the feature at the SharePoint Saturday in San Diego this weekend (via MSPoweruser).
Files Restore in #Onedrive coming in the next couple weeks. Restore the files from any point you want. Great for recovery from ransomware. #SPSSD pic.twitter.com/LFPJUtkvfg

SharePoint MVP Ryan Schouten who tweeted the above image said that Files Restore should roll out “in the next couple of weeks.” The feature was apparently demoed with an Office 365 account, and it’s not clear yet if it will be restricted to OneDrive for Business or also available for consumers.
Anyway, the ability to restore OneDrive files from any point in the past should give more peace of mind to users of Microsoft’s cloud storage service. As Schouten highlighted, this will also be a great resource for victims of ransomware attacks. Let us know in the comments if you’re looking forward to have access to this feature.
