Official Windows Phone 7.5 Mango 7720 Leaked

The much anticipated Mango update to the Windows Phone 7 operating system was apparently leaked today. This highly anticipated update offers over 100 new features and is Microsoft’s hope to turn the tides on its ill-fated Windows Phone platform.

This leak is apparently from XDA and a poster by the name of longshot442 has posted a 404MB file that contains the official RTM build of Mango (build 7720). Users are able to flash to this build directly and do not need to restore from a backup.

According to wpcentral.com, one user by the name of cyberdel was able to flash to this final build successfully and had this to say: “install on htc trophy is finished: at first i see on the bootscreen there is no mark anymore like “Not for resale” an Version is…. tada…. 7.10.7720.68 i am very happy now, good night.”

Another user even stated: “And done. Zune back to retail copy and my HTC HD7 updated to 7720. Not only that, Zune just found the official HTC update and is installing that to my phone right now. So, after seeing that, I would say this is pretty official.”

It seems that this build is device neutral and must be the developer release. Reports are indicating that this build works on all devices and carriers.

View the instructions here and the original XDA thread here for download links. Of course it goes without saying that this is completly risky and might prevent you from receving the official update. Proceed with caution.
