Microsoft has just released new Patch Tuesday updates for all supported versions of Windows 10, including the freshly-released October 2020 Update. Because this latest release shares a common core with the May 2020 Update, there’s a single KB4586781 update for both versions of the OS which includes the following fixes:
- Updates to improve security when using input devices such as a mouse, keyboard, or pen.
- Updates to improve security when using Microsoft Office products.
- Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
- Updates the 2020 DST start date for the Fiji Islands to December 20, 2020.
This same patch is also available for Windows Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview channels, which received the October 2020 Update a bit earlier. If you have yet to receive the October 2020 Update via Windows Update, you can still join either ring to install this new Windows 10 version on your PC.
Microsoft also released the KB4586786 patch for the Windows 10 November 2019 Update and the May 2019 Update, which comes with a very similar list of highlights:
- Updates the 2020 DST start date for the Fiji Islands to December 20, 2020.
- Updates to improve security when using Microsoft Office products.
- Updates to improve security when using input devices such as a mouse, keyboard, or pen.
- Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
As a reminder, the May 2019 Update has reached end of servicing next month, and Microsoft has now started pushing the November 2019 Update to keep these PCs protected in the following months. The older October 2018 update has also reached end of support today, though a last patch is now available for Home, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstations, and IoT Core editions of Windows 10,
