Lumia 530

Recently, Microsoft took the wraps off their upcoming budget-offering, the Lumia 530. The successor to the best-selling Windows Phone handset (Lumia 520) doesn’t offer too much, but considering its suggested price, it may turn out to be a good deal for those who want to give Windows Phone a try. The Lumia 530 is expected to land in select markets across the globe with a price tag under €100.

For those residing in the US, T-Mobile has announced that the carrier will have the handset and is expected to replace the highly popular Lumia 521 later this year. The company didn’t give out an exact launch date, nor the pricing plan it will come with, but it will hit T-Mobile shelves on their “uncarrier” plans in the coming months.

“T-Mobile today confirmed that later this year, the new Lumia 530 will be available on the Un-carrier’s blazing fast, data strong network,” says T-Mobile. “The Lumia 530, based on the new Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, offers customers great value at an entry level price point, plus a robust set of features including the new personal assistant Cortana – powered by Bing – and seamless out-of-box integration with Microsoft services such as OneDrive, Skype, and Office.”

The Lumia 530 doesn’t come with too many upgrades compared to its predecessor. There’s a 4-inch display with a resolution of 854 by 480 pixels, a quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM (yeah, quite disappointing), 5MP camera for photos and videos, 1,430 mAh battery, and runs Windows Phone 8.1 as its OS.
