Typically, during each Patch Tuesday, the Surface Pro 3 (as well as some of the older generation Surface tablets) would receive a firmware update addressing issues that have been identified by owners. This time around, as part of December’s Patch Tuesday, Microsoft elected not to roll out any firmware updates.
For those of you who own a Surface Pro 3 or an older model Surface tablet, you can stop checking Windows Update for a firmware update because you won’t see one — at least not today. According to Microsoft’s Surface support page, “No product updates were released for Surface Pro 3 in December.” The same can be said about the other models too.
But don’t worry, this doesn’t mean anything negative. Microsoft has begun to make it a habit to release firmware updates when needed depending on the issue at hand, as opposed to waiting for the second Tuesday of every month. Perhaps we might just see another update soon enough.
