New Lumia phablets testing with dual SIM option in India

Anticipation is building for the long awaited arrival of new flagship Lumia Windows 10 Mobile devices, and while it still is going to be well into the fall before we can get our hands on one, each bit of news takes us closer to finally seeing some new high-end Lumia hardware.

The latest bit of news comes via NokiaPowerUser from Zauba.com, an Indian site listing imports and exports from the country, gathered from “more than 10,000 ports around the world using shipping manifests, bill of lading, bill of entries and shipping bills”.  The site lists two new phones, one with a single SIM, and one dual SIM:

NPU thinks that as the pricing is in the mid range, and high end handsets are usually not dual SIM, that this may be in fact the Lumia “840XL”. Dual SIM handsets are popular especially in India due to its 22 telecom “circles”, meaning frequent travelers can avoid roaming charges by using a local SIM, with estimates that some 92% of phones sold in India will be dual SIM.

Hopefully our long wait for new flagship phones is coming to an end, and with the release of Windows 10 Mobile, expected sometime after this summer’s launch of Windows 10, we’ll get back to a more frequent cycle of flagship phone releases.
