Microsoft has started rolling out a new firmware update for its Intel-powered Surface Laptop 4. The release doesn’t bring any new features but includes bug fixes and improvements in place to enhance the device’s stability thus resolving the abnormal shutdown issue.

You can check out the list of new drivers below:

Windows Update Name Device Manager
Surface – Firmware – 12.101.139.0 Surface System Aggregator – Firmware
Surface – Firmware – 18.302.143.0 Surface UEFI – Firmware
Surface – Firmware – 160.35.36.1 Surface TCON – 13
Surface – Firmware – 160.35.14.1 Surface TCON

As usual, not everyone gets these Surface firmware updates right away. You’ll know when it’s safe to install on your device when you see it listed in Windows Update. Just head there, Check for Updates, have it download, and then restart your device. Installing this firmware will also show the previous updates if your Surface doesn’t have them already.

We also invite you to check out our detailed guide on how to check and download the latest updates for Surface devices.
