Cuphead is coming back to the spotlight in a major way today. Developer StudioMDHR first announced an upcoming Nintendo Switch which will get Xbox Live integration later on, and now we’ve just learned that the Xbox One and PC versions will get a free major update on April 18.
“As we’ve been hard at work on Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, we’ve received so much love from all of our fans that we thought we’d drop one last free content update as just a little thank you,” the co-founders of StudioMDHR wrote on Xbox Wire today. Here’s everything the free April 18 update will include:
- Mugman, Cuphead’s sidekick will be playable in single-player mode.
- StudioMDHR has created new art for the game with fully animated cut scenes, new special effects, and more.
- Cuphead has been fully localised in 10 new languages: French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese.
- StudioMDHR also did some optimizations to reduce loading times and shrink the game’s size on Xbox One. Future patches should also be much smaller.
This won’t be the last update for Cuphead as The Delicious Last Course will be released later this year as a paid DLC. The additional content will introduce a new playable character named Ms. Chalice’s, new weapons, charms, and a brand new island to explore.
Cuphead launched in September 2017 as an Xbox console exclusive, with support for Xbox Play Anywhere on Windows 10. The game is also available on Mac through Steam and Gog, and it will now launch on Nintendo Switch on April 18.
