Popular Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade passed away due to cancer last week at the age of only 23. The news came via a farewell video titled “So long nerds,” which Technoblade had written prior to his death. In the video his father reads a message that begins, “Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you’re watching this. I am dead.”

In the video Technoblade shares that his real name was Alex. He addresses the Minecraft community, saying:

Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time as those were the happiest years of my life.

In the days following Technoblade’s passing family, friends, and fans have offered tribute and condolences over social media. Minecraft developer Mojang Studios has also paid tribute to the popular YouTuber in the game’s loading screen, which now features a pig wearing a crown – a nod to Technoblade’s Minecraft avatar. Technoblade also used this for his social media icons.

Mojang has made no official statement on the gesture, or whether it will be a permanent addition to the loading screen. Though no doubt Technoblade fans would welcome this move.
