The Game Awards 2015 are next week and Microsoft is giving loyal Xbox gamers a chance to go to the event by giving away 200 free tickets at a special pre-awards Xbox Fan Celebration. Tickets for this year’s Game Awards will be limited to one-per-person and will be handed out on a first come, first serve basis.
The Xbox Fan Celebration is to be held in the JW Marriott Los Angeles at LA LIVE at a time to be announced closer to the date. The Game Awards 2015 are scheduled to start at 6pm at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater (formerly Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE), so it’s a safe bet to assume the fan event will begin several hours before the awards show.
Food and drink will be provided for free at the Xbox Fan Celebration party and several members of Microsoft’s Xbox team will also be present to talk to attendees.
For those that can’t make it to Los Angeles, The Game Awards 2015 will be streamed on YouTube, Xbox Live, and Twitch. Four Xbox One game titles have been nominated for awards this year:
- Ori and the Blind Forest for Best Independent Game, Best Action / Adventure Game, Best Score / Soundtrack, and Best Art Direction
- Halo 5: Guardians for Best Shooter, Best Multiplayer, and Best Score / Soundtrack
- Forza Motorsport 6 for Best Sports / Racing Game
- and Rise of the Tomb Raider for Best Action / Adventure Game
Rise of the Tomb Raider in particular has received a very positive response from games journalists with very high (sometimes perfect) review scores. Microsoft released a new commercial for the game earlier this week that highlighted just how well it has been received.
