Microsoft In South Korea Gives Away A Beautiful Mother Of Pearl Xbox One – onmsft.com

The Xbox, starting with Xbox 360 and now the Xbox One, has come in an astonishing array of themes, colors and patterns over the years. But a mother of pearl Xbox One? That doesn’t come too often (in fact, there are only two in the whole wide world), and you can now get jealous with Korean Xbox users over the fact that Microsoft has given one away in South Korea, reports Geek.com.

The machine, whose custom panels are hand-engraved with intricate Korean-style mother of pearl patterns (one of Korea’s artistic traditions), was given to YouTuber BDC, who has been kind enough to also put up a full unboxing video (in Korean) for us to gawk over. The mother of pearl really matches well with the shininess of the customer panels, the top vents of the Xbox One and its overall boxy looks, giving the usually somewhat bulky and imposing machine an almost jewel-case-like appearance and presence.

Apart from just the sheer beauty, BDC should also feel pretty good about his status by owning the machine since, according to his word, the only other mother of pearl Xbox in existence is an Xbox 360 that was given by Bill Gates to former South Korea President Lee Myung-bak. Now the YouTube finally has enough cred to invite a Korean president to a Xbox LAN party; that is if he could find a good split-screen game these days.
