Microsoft reporetedly looking to push Xbox Live across Android and iOS games

Recently, we revealed a job posting that indicated Microsoft was looking for software engineers with cross-platform experience. Apparently, Microsoft is looking to push Xbox Live across rival platforms, such as Android and iOS.

Microsoft has already been toying around with the idea of having Xbox Live achievements on iOS and Android, but now Microsoft is reportedly looking to push Xbox Live across various platforms. According to The Verge, Microsoft is building a platform to extend the Xbox Live functionality across iOS and Android games.

“As a member of the newly formed team, you will have the rare opportunity to influence our planning and design from the beginning. We will create a modern framework that is open source, light-weight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS and Android. Working on the gaming technologies, you will collaborate with both internal partner teams across the company and external ecosystem partners to enable end-to-end gaming scenarios,” the job description stated.

Microsoft is reportedly planning on fewer restrictions and better tools for game developers to integrate Xbox Live functionality into game titles, as the current certification and permission process is a bit tedious.

Who’s up for some cross-platform gaming, while earning achievements, and finding new friends? More on this as it develops.
