Microsoft has revealed that the next service update to Intune, its cloud-based device management service, will be delivered between March 4th and 7th.
Along with various stability tweaks and bug fixes that traditionally come as part of an update, several new features will be delivered. Included among these is the ability to streamline the enrollment of Apple devices that have either been purchased directly from Apple (or an authorized reseller). Also included is the ability to restrict access to Sharepoint Online and OneDrive for Business should it be required for certain devices.
This expands into wider management control that is being delivered across OneDrive apps for both Android and iOS. Given last is the capability to add .appx files to Windows 8.1 devices and to restrict the number of devices that a user can enroll into Intune. Hybrid customers will also be given the ability to create custom wi-fi profiles with pre-shared keys for Android devices.
Additional updates will continue to be delivered in this area, with new functionality being rolled out soon. As such, users are advised to keep their eyes peeled for news of the latest new features as they are delivered in order to minimize any growing pains.
