Microsoft gears up for Windows Phone 8.1 launch with 'Get Started with Cortana' video

Cortana is your personal digital assistant on your Windows Phone device. She comes with Windows Phone 8.1. She’s there to help make things easier for you and keep you up to date on the things that matter to you. At least that’s the intention Microsoft has with Cortana.

Microsoft began the rollout of Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Cyan on July 15th and devices around the world are slowly receiving the update — dependent on carrier of course. Windows Phone 8.1 includes brand new features which make your device even more operable, such as a notification center, more tiles on the Start Screen, and much more. One of the key features is Cortana, a rival to Siri and Google Now.

Whether it’s to keep you looped in with your world or help you manage your everyday life, Cortana is there for you. As Windows Phone 8.1 begins rolling out, Microsoft has uploaded a new video to YouTube offering a three minute overview of what Cortana can offer you.

Titled “Get Started with Cortana,” the video touches on all the key aspects of Cortana. Most of us who reside in the United States have experienced Cortana first hand with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers program. But if you haven’t seen Cortana in action, you are in for a treat.

We’ve embedded the video below for your viewing pleasure. You can head over here to see when your device will receive Windows Phone 8.1 and/or Lumia Cyan.
