Microsoft Edge is getting a new price tracking feature

Microsoft’s new Edge browser is will soon help users keep track of price changes on products they’ve recently viewed while browsing the web. The company detailed the upcoming price tracking feature today, and it follows the announcement of a new “Buy now, pay later” option that came earlier this week.

“This feature is coming soon and will be built into the browser, so you just need to browse as you normally would, and Microsoft Edge will let you know if any of the items you’ve recently looked at have changed in price. This eliminates having to check back on each product yourself, especially during the holidays when your online shopping list is probably very long,” explained
Liat Ben-Zur, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft.

User interface for shopping in microsoft edge

Shopping use cases seem to be a big focus for the Edge team these days, and Microsoft’s web browser already offers several built-in tools for comparing prices and auto-filling coupons. These shopping features are entirely optional, but Microsoft is committed to making shopping good for the environment, too. Coming soon, for every 10 purchases made in Microsoft Edge at eligible retailers, we will make a donation to the Eden Reforestation Project for planting trees,” announced Ben-Zur.

Now that Microsoft Edge is on a 4-week release cycle, a new major update should land in the Stable Channel next week, and the new price tracking feature announced today should be there, right in time for the holiday season. Last month, Microsoft Edge 95 also introduced a new Efficiency mode to manage resources more carefully and save battery life on laptops.
