Microsoft continues to go after Macbook Air in latest Surface ad

Just two weeks after Microsoft put its Surface Pro 4 hybrid tablet against Apple’s iPad Pro in a short video ad, the Redmond giant is back at it this week with a funny new ad that now targets the Macbook Air (via Neowin). The 30 seconds video features a cute song which pokes fun at the MacBook Air weaknesses such as the absence of a touch screen, the non-detachable keyboard, the heavier weight of the notebook and more. There are even some sweet punchlines such as “this Mac doesn’t have any of that, it’s less useful like a hat for your cat. ”

Last month, Microsoft released two series of Surface Pro 4 ads featuring professional climber Melissa Arnot as well as Mexican animator Jorge Gutiérrez and his partner Sandra Equihua, and the common theme wasn’t much different: the Surface Pro 4 is a truly versatile devices that allow these professionals to do things they can’t do on a Mac. Overall, we like to see that Microsoft is trying something different to promote its 2-in-1 device and we can’t wait to see what the company will do next. Do you think Microsoft should get Retail Marketing Director Ben Rudolph back in the streets for some “Smoked by Surface Pro 4” challenges? Let us in the comments if you have better ideas to help Microsoft promote its hybrid tablet.
