Microsoft and Xbox celebrate Earth Day – onmsft.com

April 22 is Earth Day, and Microsoft is celebrating the occasion in a number of ways. Among the many endeavors the company is taking to reach its goal of becoming a zero waste, water positive and carbon negative company by 2030 are its involvement with the likes of Project Amplify and the Green Software Foundation. These organizations are committed to driving social impact through providing sustainability projects access to the technology they need to achieve their goals. The Green Software Foundation in particular is committed to making the software industry a carbon-free one – from development and distribution to consumer use.

Microsoft also works with many other enterprises as part of its sustainability efforts, like TCS Clever Energy, which helps industrial organizations achieve their carbon-neutral goals. Also noteworthy is Microsoft’s partnerships with the World Wildlife Fund, Water.org and The Nature Conservancy

And for the mainstream consumers Microsoft is celebrating Earth Day with a host of Xbox goodies. Xbox Game Pass has created an Earth Day collection featuring four games: Jurassic World Evolution; Subnautica: Below Zero; Craftopia; and Fe. Minecraft developer Mojang Studios is also getting in on the celebrations with new learning content for Minecraft: Education Edition. And a slew of in-game content will be released in honor of Earth Day including new liveries in Forza Horizon 4, Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Motorsport 7. New Earth Day themed content will be available in the Xbox Store in the form of gamerpics, profile themes and avatar Items.

As we celebrate Earth Day 2022, let us think of all the small ways we can appreciate this beautiful planet we call home. Visit a park, plant a tree, or build a birdhouse with the family.
