Microsoft begins rolling out Copilot in Windows features to Windows 11 22H2 Release Preview Channel

Although Microsoft said yesterday that the features they highlighted in yesterday’s Surface and AI event would become available for Windows 11 22H2 users, they’re already beginning to roll out for Windows 11 22H2 users in the Release Preview Channel. Along with Copilot for Windows, this Release Preview Channel build (22621.2361 (KB5030310) ) also includes the Modernized File Explorer, and “new text authoring experiences to voice access and new natural voices in Narrator, and Windows Backup.”

A more complete list of the new features and changes will be released next Tuesday, the 26th.

You may have to jump through a few hoops to get these new features: first, make sure that “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available” is turned on in Settings > Windows Update, and you’ll get the Windows Configuration Update (KB5030509) when you update to the latest Windows 11 22H2 Release Preview build. If you happen to install the build with the latest updates toggle off, you can still turn it on after the install and “Windows Configuration Update (KB5030509) will be downloaded on your PC where you will be asked to reboot.”

If you leave the toggle off, the new features will be gradually rolled out to your device over time.

So if you want to check out what was announced yesterday, install Release Preview Channel build 22621.2361 and get the latest updates as they are available.
