Microsoft acknowledges issue preventing Teams users in Europe to use Microsoft Whiteboard » onmsft.com

If you’re experiencing problems while accessing the Microsoft Whiteboard app in Microsoft Teams, you are not alone. On Microsoft’s Community website, some Teams users have recently been complaining about being unable to use Microsoft Whiteboard during Teams meetings, and the issue appears to be only affecting users in Europe.

These problems are apparently caused by the fact that Microsoft Teams doesn’t store information in a way that is GDPR compliant. Microsoft’s support team has now confirmed on Microsoft Community forums that this is a known issue for European tenants, which is now being investigated, though the company didn’t provide a firm ETA for resolution:

We found this is a known issue for European tenants. As Whiteboard stores newly created boards in different locations depending on the country and the GDPR, Whiteboard data of these tenants is located in Europe but Whiteboard does not have a precise location and is stored on various data centers in Europe and this is why the feature is currently disabled.

It’s still unclear if this issue is currently affecting Microsoft Teams users from other regions of the world. However, it is really unfortunate to see that there is no workaround available in these unprecedented times when millions of peoples (including Microsoft employees) are relying on Microsoft Teams to communicate internally.

Have you been affected by this issue? If so, share your experiences with the community in the comments down below.
