Meta has announced a redesigned Meta Account system that aims to simplify how users sign in and manage their accounts across its growing ecosystem of apps and devices. As platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Threads, and Meta AI expand, users often deal with multiple logins, which creates confusion and slows down access.
This update brings a more organized approach by offering a central place to manage accounts without changing how people use each app daily.
A simpler way to manage logins
The new Meta Account system allows users to set up a single password that works across multiple Meta apps and devices, which removes the need to remember different credentials for each service. Users can also enable passkeys, which let them log in using fingerprint, face recognition, or a device password, making the process faster and more secure. At the same time, Meta continues to support multi-factor authentication and login alerts to strengthen account protection.
Meta Account builds on the existing Accounts Center and brings more settings into one place, including passwords, email addresses, and two-factor authentication. This means users no longer need to update the same details separately across apps.
However, app-specific settings such as post visibility on Facebook or tagging permissions on Instagram will still remain within each app, so users can control their experience individually.
Optional linking and parental controls
Users do not have to link all their accounts into one Meta Account, and they can add or remove apps whenever they want, which gives them full control over how they manage their profiles. WhatsApp remains optional and continues to keep messages end-to-end encrypted.
Alongside this, Meta has improved parental supervision tools through the Family Center dashboard, where parents can manage settings for multiple apps in one place.
Meta plans to roll out the updated Meta Account system gradually over the next year, focusing on easier access, better security, and a more unified user experience across its platforms.
