Hp announces the omen for those that seek portable gaming computing

Who said PC gaming was dead? Following Acer’s latest attempt to woo gamers, HP has revived the OMEN brand (from its acquisition of Voodoo) to launch a new gaming contender. The HP OMEN was designed to be both gorgeous to look at, and powerful enough to serve its purpose.

HP blessed the OMEN with a quad-core Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor clocked at 2.5GHz, up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM, 512GB of flash storage, and an NVIDIA GTX860M graphics card with 4GB of GDDR5 graphics memory, powering a 15.6” full HD touchscreen display. All that power is packed into a striking anodized aluminum chassis that is only 19.9mm thin and weighs a total of 4.68lbs. Connectivity ports include HDMI, mini DisplayPort ,and 4 USB3.0 inputs, all positioned at the rear of the laptop. Premium does come with a price tag however, and those specs will cost you upwards of $1,699, but the OMEN is available with lower specs at a base price of $1,499.

The keyboard on the machine is designed with gaming in mind to be precise, accurate, and fast. It includes 6 programmable function keys and is fully backlit. Lighting is also customizable with 7 zones of multicolor options. In terms of sound, HP still holds an exclusivity contract with Beats Audio so that’s included too. Gamers also have the option to purchase the HP Omen Gaming Mouse for $59.99, that features 8200DPI laser tracking and eight levels of on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment. For those who plan to take this elegant beast on the road, HP also offers the OMEN Gaming Backpack for $79.99 that has dedicated compartments for the OMEN PC, a tablet, a mouse, and a keyboard.

If you’re in the market for a new laptop and are interested in a device that is thin and light, yet packs a punch in terms of performance, the OMEN is definitely a device to consider.
