Get fit for 2014 with Zumba Dance for Windows Phone

When you think about using your phone to help with fitness levels, you probably think of using some sort of running app to track your jogs around the countryside; but it doesn’t have to be like this. Zumba Dance is a rather unique fitness app that uses your Windows Phone’s camera as a Kinect-style sensor!

If you are already involved in Zumba, you may recognize names such as Beto Perez, Gina Grant, and Kass Martin — these are the instructors who will guide you through a series of workouts. Choreographed dance routines are the secret behind the “exercise in disguise”, and it’s as much about fun as fitness.

When you buy the app ($4.99, by the way), you’ll initially get a single 20 minute workout included, but there are more available as in-app purchase. In total there are three 60-minutes dance workouts for you to buy and extend your choices with.

The app is a fairly hefty 172MB download, but it’s well worth giving over the space. There’s some great music to keep you motivated — the likes of LMFAO, Pitbull and Tiesto — but it is the use of the cameras to track your movements and a score your dancing that’s really impressive.

Check it out and see what you think.
