Microsoft has released a series of new firmware updates for its Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop Studio devices. The January 2023 updates bring stability, reliability, and security improvements for both Surface models.

For the Surface Pro 8 owners, these firmware updates aim to address security vulnerabilities as well as enhance system stability and performance. The update also features a comprehensive list of new drivers.

As for the Surface Laptop Studio owners, the firmware update features an enhanced Windows Hello facial recognition as well as a comprehensive list of new drivers.

As usual, not everyone gets these Surface firmware updates right away. You'll know when it's safe to install on your device when you see it listed in Windows Update. Just head there, Check for Updates, have it download, and then restart your device. Installing this firmware will also show the previous updates if your Surface doesn't have them already.

We also invite you to check out our detailed guide on how to check and download the latest updates for Surface devices. In related news, there have been reports that the Surface Duo 2 is out of stock though Microsoft indicated that it is still committed to the Android hardware business.
