EA Sports announced today that they will be launching a new video game for smartphones, FIFA Mobile. The app will be based on the larger console versions but will be redesigned and simplified for smaller screens and touch controls.
A version for “Windows devices” has been confirmed. This is assumed to mean Windows 10 Mobile or Windows phone devices but it could also suggest at compatibility for Windows 10 PCs and tablets if the developers take advantage of Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform app format which allows for the same code to be used across devices.
One way in which FIFA Mobile is being adapted for smartphones is through the introduction of a new game mode called, Attack Mode. This mode creates super-short matches of around a minute in length that incorporate asynchronous gameplay. Basically, one player can play their side of the match in a quick burst, shut the app down, then their opponent can play their side afterwards.
Here’s the official description: An all-new football experience built for the mobile player featuring Attack Mode, daily live content, a fresh approach to squad building, and online leagues to compete against players worldwide.
Gameplay is completely re-imagined in our new and creative Attack Mode. Quick, exciting, turn-based matches will have you playing only your team’s attacking chances for each half, before passing the game to your opponent to do the same
A new approach to building your squad lets you create a bigger and deeper club, offers a simplified method to boost your players and gives you a better experience to manage who is on the pitch. Stay tuned throughout the season to find unique and exciting ways to make your club better.
With more than 30 leagues, 650 teams, and 17000 players, FIFA Mobile is the most authentic football experience available on-the-go. Play with all of your favorite stars and immerse yourself in the world of football!
FIFA Mobile will be updated in the months following its launch in autumn 2016 and the app is already being heavily promoted on the EA Sports website. Are you excited for this app? Let us know in the comments below.
