CES 2014 is finally here and Lenovo has kicked things off by announcing a plethora of new Windows 8 powered devices – including the X1 Carbon, Horizon 2, A740 and C560. Let’s dive into these products and see what they are.
First off, we have the Lenovo X1 Carbon. This device is a 14-inch ultrabook designed with carbon fiber – the same material used on aircrafts and vehicles! Not only is the carbon fiber stronger than magnesium and aluminum, but it also weighs less – in fact, it weighs a mere 2.8lbs. The device also features an improved touch display with a 2560×1440 screen resolution option.
The device also features Lenovo’s Rapid Charge technology – which offers you an 80% charge of the battery in less than one hour. This device also features a 70% improvement on battery life compared to the previous model, with up to a 9 hour battery life. Lenovo also introduced an improved docking experience with Lenovo’s OneLink connector that brings power, gigabit Ethernet, and dual display support all through a single cable. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon will start at $1299 (USD) and will be available later this month.
Lenovo has also announced the Horizon 2. This device, unlike the Horizon all-in-one PC, is dramatically thinner and lighter. The PC also features improved performance with up to a 4th generation Intel i7 CPU, Dolby Home Theater, and large traditional or hybrid storage options. The device also comes with NFC (Near Field Communications) support and a 10-point touch screen. Of course, this device runs Windows 8.1. The Lenovo Horizon 2 will run for $1499 (USD) and will be available this June.
The Lenovo A740 is a new all-in-one PC from Lenovo that features a 4mm thin display, being touted by the company as one of the thinnest 27-inch all-in-one devices in the market today. The device features a WQHD 2560X1440 display with a wide 178-degree viewing angle, NVIDIA GeForce graphics, JBL speakers and Dolby Home Theater, up to 1TB of hard drive storage, NFC, 802.11 AC Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI-in support, an optional TV tuner and comes with Windows 8.1. The device stand and display back are cut from a single piece of aluminum offering a sleek and modern look. This device will be available in June of this year for $1499 (USD).
Not to be out done, Lenovo also announced the C560 today. This device is a new 23 inch all-in-one PC that comes in two color options – white or black. This device features a full HD 1920×1080 optional multi-touch display, up to a 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce graphics, Dolby Advanced Audio, 2TB of storage, built-in TV tuner with HDMI out. This device runs for a cheaper $659 (USD) and will be available in February.
