over billion gamers worldwide

In an official blog post, Microsoft has revealed some interesting statistics when it comes to gaming. Microsoft is obviously excited, and so are we, about the launch of the next gen Xbox console set for tomorrow morning.

During Microsoft’s Larry Hyrb’s recent podcast, Microsoft’s chief of staff for the Interactive Entertainment Business, Aaron Greenberg, shared some interesting stats when it comes to the video gaming industry. You can check out that podcast embedded below for your listening pleasures.

According to Greenberg, the worldwide gaming spending is around $65 billion dollars! On top of that, there are over 1 billion video gamers worldwide. This just goes to show you that gaming is no longer for kids. As you can see from the image above, the stats show that the console leads in gaming, while the PC comes in second place. Mobile/tablet gaming is also a factor in the growth of the gaming market.

The live-stream of the Xbox event will take place on May 21st at 1PM Eastern Time, 10AM Pacific Time. Microsoft will reveal the next-gen Xbox during this event held at the Microsoft Campus in redmond. Microsoft will eventually showcase the full lineup of games as well as the console during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June of 2013.
