During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Microsoft Skype’s Vice President of Products Rick Osterloh talks about product growth numbers, new product offerings, and multi-platform integration in this short three minute video.

Skype, an internet communication company, is a free and popular service that allows both video and voice calls over the internet trough VoiP(voice over internet protocol)technology. There is also a premium service for subscribers that place calls from Skype to landlines and cell phones.

In October of 2011, Microsoft announced the completion of the company’s biggest acquisition ever of Skype which came at a staggering price of $8.5 billion.

Skype’s user base has already reached 200 million monthly users, according to Microsoft. On top of that, Skype has dished out over 300 billion minutes in 2011. Microsoft is also working on a mobile platform for Skype and some sort of integration with Windows Phone.

Skype recently announced that they have added a Facebook to Facebook video call support to their popular software, which now allows users of the popular social network to initiate calls with their webcams to their Facebook friends.

Just a few days ago, Skype for Windows 5.7.0.137 beta was released which includes a new video rendering feature that offers a smoother video experience for Mac users and group screen sharing for Windows users with a Premium subscription. Users who are chatting one-on-one will also be able to screen share with live video streaming.
