Hasbro hopes for Transformers games revival with Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard acquisition

As reported by Neowin, Hasbro’s Transformers games, once developed and published by Activision from 2007 to 2015, have been off the digital market since 2017 due to the loss of Activision’s rights. However, hopes are rising for a possible return of these games, thanks to Microsoft’s potential acquisition of Activision Blizzard; here is the latest update on it.

In a recent interview with Transformer World 2005, an unnamed Hasbro representative expressed interest in bringing back the older Activision titles to a broader audience.

Sadly, apparently Activision’s not sure what hard drives they’re on in their building. When a company eats a company that eats a company things get lost, and that’s very frustrating. Hope is that now that the deal is moving forward with Microsoft and Xbox that they’ll go through all of the archives and every hard drive to find it all, because it’s an easy Game Pass add. We want those games back up for people to have a chance to play.

With the Microsoft and Xbox deal underway, there is optimism that the tech giant will thoroughly search their archives to find and possibly add the games to Game Pass.

Although Activision technically lacks the rights to make Transformers games, Hasbro might take the matter into their own hands by becoming the publisher themselves.

While fans await the potential revival of the older games, an upcoming all-new Transformers game is in development. Titled “Transformers: Reactivate,” the game is created by Splash Damage for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. However, no release date for this new addition to the Transformers gaming franchise has yet been announced.
