Dead by Daylight to get a movie adaptation

Video game-to-TV and -movie adaptations are an undeniably big trend right now. The latest video game to get slated for the big screen treatment is multiplayer survival-horror/action title Dead by Daylight.

The project is to be headed by Blumhouse, with Atomic Monster Productions (Van Helsing, Sweet Tooth) and Dead by Daylight developer Behavior Interactive joining in production.

If the name Blumhouse rings a bell, it’s because the production company has been in the news quite a lot lately. Only last week Blumhouse announced it was opening a gaming division, with a focus on creating indie games.

Blumhouse is best known for its horror films and TV shows, which include The Invisible Man, M3GAN, The Purge, Happy Death Day and more. So it would seem like the perfect production company to pull off a Dead by Daylight movie.

CEO of Atomic Monster Productions James Wan said,

In Dead by Daylight the Behaviour team has created a love letter to the world of horror, building an incredible environment teeming with atmosphere and terrifying villains — perfect for a scary cinematic adaptation.

No further details or release date for the project was revealed.
