Xbox LIVE Fall 2011 Update coming December 6th

Not long ago, Xbox launched a preview program for the fall 2011 dashboard update that is set to hit the Xbox soon. Today, Major Nelson has confirmed a launch date for the update, expect some metro action on your console on December 6th 2011.

Major Nelson (Larry Hryb) has today confirmed an official release date of the new Fall 2011 dashboard update which features a Metro UI overhaul, full Kinect intergration, social features, applications and more. The dashboard is set to land on December 6th 2011 on all Xbox 360 consoles, whether thats the Xbox 360 Arcade, or the new Xbox 360 Slim.

Taken directly from Major Nelsons website: “I wanted to let you know that the official release for the update for all Xbox LIVE members will be Tuesday, December 6th.”

You can expect to see these plus more in the new update:

– New personal and social features including Cloud Storage for Game Saves and LIVE Profile
– Beacons and Facebook Sharing
– Enhanced Family Settings
– Integrated voice and gesture controls across the dashboard and in apps
– Bing voice search (Available this year in the US, UK and CA)

Major Nelson also talked a little about TV for Xbox, saying that new customized applications for television will be coming soon. “New, customized applications for television, movies, internet videos, sports and music will begin rolling out from world-leading providers in more than 20 countries.”
