Last October, Microsoft introduced Android Apps in Windows 11, enabled in part by the Windows Subsystem for Android. Now today the Windows Insider Program Team has released a new version, clocking in at 2206.40000.15.0, that includes a number of updates. If you haven’t already enabled them, here’s how to get Android apps running on Windows 11.

New to WSA are a a new suite of shims enabling better experiences in several apps, including compatibility for games with joysticks, gamepad in games, aiming with arrow keys in games, and sliding with arrow keys in games. Also included are scrolling and networking improvements, security updates, reliability fixes, and graphic improvements. You can check out the blog post for the full list of improvements.

There is one Known Issue:

  • Some VPNs may not work with Advanced Networking. If you use a VPN and find Android apps do not have network connectivity, please disable Advanced Networking in the Windows Subsystem for Android Settings app

Are you using Android apps on Windows using the Windows Subsystem for Android? Let us know in the comments below.
