Microsoft is fresh off the launch of the Surface Duo, but LG might have just taken the dual-screen phone market to a new place. The company just announced the LG Wing, a new smartphone with a screen that swivels.
Although no official price point or release date was given, the LG Wing features two OLED screens, one of which is a bit unconventional. You’ll find a standard 6.8-inch screen that is nearly bezel-less, except for two fine black strips at the top and bottom. But, the real star of the phone is the second screen is a 3.9-inch display that’s tucked beneath the main display.

Indeed, unlike Microsoft’s dual-screen phone which has two panels side by side, the Wing is able to “twist” or “swivel” so you can reveal that second screen that’s under the main one. This opens up the phone in a “T” shape and new possibilities for productivity. For instance, LG demonstrated how you’ll be able to view a video on the larger top screen, and then get your calls or texts on the secondary, bottom display. You’ll also be able to use that bottom display as a “gimbal” so you can use the top screen camera as a viewfinder, but keep your controls on the bottom.
Under the hood, the LG Wing is powered by the Snapdragon 765G processor 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. Just like the Surface Duo, there’s no waterproofing, however. You’ll also find that the LG Wing features a pop-up 32-megapixel front-facing camera and a triple-camera setup on the back.
No word yet on when the phone will release, or what the pricing will be, but the phone will come to the USA with Verizon first. It’ll then come to AT&T and T-Mobile later on.
