A week ago, Microsoft unveiled new Surface hardware during a much anticipated Windows 10 event in New York. As expected, a new Surface Studio all-in-one PC was unveiled along with updated versions of the Surface Book hybrid laptop, though the more affordable Surface Pro line didn’t get much love.
While that doesn’t mean that Microsoft won’t introduce a Surface Pro 5 in the coming months, it seems that the company wants to remind us that its “Pro” line of Surface hardware remains much appreciated by, you guessed it, professionals. To prove it, the Redmond giant published today the customer story of Luci Hamilton, a law practice management consultant and manager of a comedy festival in Los Angeles who uses a Surface Pro as her daily driver.

Many reasons led Hamilton to use a Surface Pro as her main computer. Firstly, as her daily work and activities imply many travels, she explains that the light form factor is perfect for her lifestyle. But more important, she adds that the hybrid nature of the Surface Pro is very well suited to an attorney’s work routine. “The business of law has changed drastically and the use of new technology is paramount when collaborating with clients. The ability to feel like you can transport your work with you and connect wherever you are in the world is incredible,” she explained.
Outside of her legal office work, Hamilton added that the Surface Pro really helped her to set up the Broad Humor Film Festival in Los Angeles this year, improving the event’s operations with the versatile technology. She highlighted one specific use case: during Q&A sessions with the artists, Hamilton passed her Surface Pro around get online donations from the audience, noting that the ability to donate via credit cards increased the average donation amount significantly.
“I truly believe that the Surface is a superior product for what we do in our industry,” explained Hamilton, whose enthusiasm echoes a recent report from Strategy Analytics announcing that Windows tablets had a 25% increase in shipments in Q3 2016.
