Slacker Radio Tones arriving on Windows Phone this April, lets you set individual songs as your Ringback Tone

We’ve all heard of ringtones, which are downloaded to your phone and played when someone calls you. Ringback tones, however, are not downloaded to your phone — rather it is played by your network to your callers before you answer the call.

Slacker, makers of the popular Slacker Radio service, have announced today in an official press release that Slack Radio Tones will soon be available on Windows Phone. Radio Tones is a service that allows you to set individual songs as your Ringback Tone, provided you have the service enabled with your carrier.

“Slacker’s re-imagination of ringtones that allows users to customize their mobile experience by setting either songs, stations, playlists* or albums as personalized ringtones and ringback tones across their entire contact list has been redesigned to allow customer more streamlined ability to search, preview and set tones from throughout the app. This feature is exclusive to Verizon Wireless customers and is the only service of its type, allowing subscribers to stream music as well as select tones from one application, and allowing users to set unlimited tones for a flat monthly subscription fee. Slacker Radio Tones will also be coming to iPhone and Windows Phone 8 apps later in April.” – Slacker. April 7th, 2015.

Whether this service becomes part of the Slacker app for Windows Phone or becomes a separate app altogether remains to be seen. Slacker Radio Tunes is exclusive to Verizon Wireless customers, and runs for $2 a month to have Ringback Tones. Slacker Radio Tones does not require a Slacker Radio streaming subscription.
