Skype Video Messaging

Microsoft recently rolled out a preview of Skype Video Messaging for Windows, Windows 8, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, and BlackBerry. Today, Microsoft has revealed that this new feature is no longer in preview stage and is available for free for Skype users. Unfortunately, this feature is not yet available for Windows Phone users.

Skype’s new video messaging capabilities are great for those who prefer to send video messages to their loved ones or friends. Skype Video Messaging allows you to record a video message and send it to your contacts, even when they’re unavailable. The recipient can watch the video message when they come back online.

“Video messaging is now available to all Skype users. You can send and receive as many video messages as you want – completely free of charge. Video messages can be received and viewed on any platform or device running Skype,” Microsoft explains.

Using this feature is fairly simple, just tap the “video message” button and then hit the record button to capture your video message. The message can be up to three minutes long and you will be able to preview the video before sending it.

Microsoft has made no mention about having this feature on Windows Phone, so one has to wonder what the software giant has up their sleeve. Could we expect this feature for Windows Phone soon? We’ll just have to wait and see.
