Alcatel handset spotted running Windows 10 for phones at MWC 2015

The Mobile World Congress 2015 is going on in full force in Barcelona. Recently, the folks at Windows Central spotted an Alcatel device — the Pixi 3 — running the Windows 10 for phones technical preview. Surprisingly, the version spotted on the handset isn’t the version which was seeded to Insiders last month, but an older build, so it’s definitely a prototype unit which the company may be testing.

As for Alcatel Pixi 3, the handset is available in various screen sizes, and customers have the option to select the handset in Firefox OS, Android and Windows Phone as their operating system. The handset was unveiled at the Consumers Electronics Show 2015 in January, and is basically a low-end device.

Nonetheless, it looks like a positive sign that Alcatel is apparently testing Windows 10 for phones on its handsets, and there’s a possibility the company may roll it out for the handset in the future — when Windows 10 for phones becomes official — or at least, launch handsets running the operating system.
