According to a rumor by the Windows Phone focused Chinese website WPDang, it appears that Microsoft will announce two new Lumia phones running Windows 10 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain in March. The two unspecified Lumia devices are allegedly going to be entry-level and mid-range devices, with a flagship phone to come later but still in the first half of the year.
Last quarter, Microsoft sold more than 10.5 million mostly low-end Lumia phones, compared to the same time last year, which is an increase of 28%. It is likely that Microsoft will focus more heavily on the low-end Lumia device market at MWC to increase its worldwide phone market share.
Last year at MWC, the flagship Lumia 930 was released. There has not been any other flagship Lumia device released since, so it is only reasonable that Microsoft will announce a new Lumia device or two possibly running Windows 10. Acer is said to have plans to announce Windows Phone devices at MWC and there are rumors that Samsung will also get back to releasing Windows Phone devices as well.
A low-end Lumia 830 could be in the works, the RM-1072. It’s expected to be powered by 5 inch, 720P resolution screen, Qualcomm 400 quad-core processor, 8G internal storage, SD card expansion. Most of the configuration is the same as the Lumia 830, but the biggest difference is that RM-1072 will use an 8.7 MP camera. At this point in time, it appears that the RM-1072 is likely to appear in the MWC this year.
